These four great photos have been curated from the City of Vancouver photo archives, showcasing a team of stunt riders performing at the Beatty Street Drill Grounds in 1937.
The grounds have been used for many years for parades, fields and sporting events and also as a site for celebration and for protest. Known today as Larwill Park, it is the proposed site of the new Vancouver Art Gallery, with construction slated to begin in 2017.
All photos by Stuart Thomson, who was a commercial, portrait and press photographer in Vancouver in the 1920s and 1930s.
