The data may be sobering, but riders can do our part to maximize our chance for a safe ride.
1. Get trainingÂ
Training will allow you to learn and improve in a controlled environment under instructors who are experts in their field. There are several training options in BC, for both new and returning riders including group and one-on-one lessons as well as track schools at local race tracks.
2. Gear up
Choose gear that will protect you from both impact and abrasion and help you be seen on the road. Gear can be purchased at local dealerships and specialty stores.
3. Use proper lane positioning
Correct lane positioning will help maximize your visibility and give you more time to react to unexpected and dangerous situations.
4. Ride within your limits
Choose riding partners and appropriate speed that will not push you beyond your abilities.
